*Opening Prayer and Confession of Faith                         Heidelberg Catechism, Q. 60

Christian, how are you righteous before God?  Even though my conscience accuses me of having grievously sinned against all God’s commandments and of never having kept any of them, and even though I am still inclined toward all evil, nevertheless, without deserving it at all, out of sheer grace, God grants and credits to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, as if I have never sinned nor been a sinner, as if I had been as perfectly obedient as Christ was obedient for me. All I need to do is accept this gift of God with a believing heart.

“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

Scripture Song      “Come, Let Us Worship and Bow Down”       Psalm 95:6  CCLI # 11156644

Come, let us worship and bow down,

Let us kneel before the Lord, our God, our maker.  (Repeat)

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand, just the sheep of His hand.

Christian, how does the glory of Christ, our Head, benefit us? First, by His Holy Spirit He pours out heavenly gifts upon us, His members. Second, by His power He defends and preserves us against all enemies.

What do you believe concerning the Holy Spirit First, He is, together with the Father and the Son, true and eternal God. Second, He is also given to me, to make me by true faith share in Christ and all His benefits, to comfort me, and to remain with me forever.                                                 (Heidelberg Catechism, Questions 51 & 53)
