    Christian, what is your only comfort in life and death?                          Heidelberg Catechism 1,2

    That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who, with his precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that, without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yes, that all things must be subservient to my salvation; and therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready henceforth to live unto Him

    And, what do you need to know in order to live and die in the joy of this comfort? First, how great my sins and misery are; second, how I am delivered from all my sins and misery; third, how I am to be thankful to God for such deliverance.

    Song of Preparation              “Come, Oh Redeemer, Come”                  Fernando Ortega

     Call to Repentance                              Luke 18:9-14                            ESV Bible, page 877

    “Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

    For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

    For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own,

    they did not submit to God's righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law

    for righteousness to everyone who believes.”

    Romans 10:1-4

    “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin,

    so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

    2 Corinthians 5:21

    “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
    yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
     But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
     and with his wounds we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray;
      we have turned—every one—to his own way;
    and the Lord has laid on him
     the iniquity of us all.

    Isaiah 53:4-6

    Psalm                               “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need”

     My Shepherd will supply my need, Jehovah is His name,
    In pastures fresh He makes me feed beside the living stream;
    He brings my wandering spirit back when I forsake His way,
    And leads me for His mercy's sake in paths of truth and grace.

    When I walk through the shades of death His presence is my stay,
    One word of His supporting grace drives all my fears away;
    His hand in sight of all my foes doth still my table spread,
    My cup with blessings overflows, His oil anoints my head.

    The sure provisions of my God attend me all my days;
    Oh, may Thy house be my abode and all my work be praise;
    There would I find a settled rest, while others go and come;
    No more a stranger nor a guest, but like a child at home
