  • Lord’s Day Morning Worship ~ April 19, 2020

Christ the King Presbyterian Church - OPC - 10:00 AM – LIVE STREAM

Music for Meditation / Welcome and Announcements / Prelude

Salutation and Call to Worship Revelation 19:6-7,11-12                                   Rev. Hausler

“I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, ‘Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready!’”

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True…His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems!”

*Opening Hymn                  “Crown Him with Many Crowns”                            Hymnal #295

Crown Him with many crowns The Lamb upon His throne
Hark how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own
Awake my soul and sing of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity

Crown Him the Lord of life Who triumphed o'er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save
His glories now we sing Who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring and lives that death may die

Crown Him the Lord of love Behold His hands and side
Rich wounds yet visible above in beauty glorified
No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight
But downward bends each burning eye at mysteries so bright

Crown Him the Lord of peace Whose power a sceptre sways
From pole to pole that wars may cease and all be prayer and praise

His reign shall know no end and round His pierced feet
Fair flowers of paradise extend their fragrance ever sweet

Crown Him the Lord of years The Potentate of time
Creator of the rolling spheres ineffably sublime
All hail Redeemer hail for Thou hast died for me
Thy praise shall never never fail throughout eternity!

*Opening Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen.

*Confession of Faith                                                        Heidelberg Catechism #27

What do you understand by the providence of God?

God’s providence is His almighty and ever-present power, whereby, as with His hand, He still upholds heaven and earth and all creatures, and so governs them that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, food and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, indeed, all things, come to us not by chance but by His fatherly hand.

Psalm                                        “O My God and King and Savior”                                 Psalm 145

    O my God and King and Savior, I will bless you every day;

You are great, beyond all telling, yet will listen when I pray.

Ages past have sun your praises; now my generation sings

Of your glory, splendor, goodness, and to you its homage brings.

All your works speak of your kingdom, where you reign eternally,

    Yet from where your great compassion reaches out to comfort me;

And your saints on earth acclaim you, as your mercies they recall,

Knowing you will never leave them for you made and love them all.

God, you gave the hungry manna, now your church you daily feed,

Opening wide your hand and pouring gifts of life to those in need.

Every day I’ll strive to serve you, seeking neither wealth nor fame,

Only strength to speak your praises, and to bless your holy name!

“The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

    Hebrews 4:12

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”

    John 17:17

Call to Repentance                               2 Timothy 3:1-9

    Hymn                                                       “Pass Me Not”

Pass me not O gentle Savior hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling do not pass me by

Savior, Savior hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling do not pass me by

Let me at Thy throne of mercy find a sweet relief
Kneeling there in deep contrition help my unbelief

Savior, Savior hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling do not pass me by

Trusting only in Thy merit would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded broken spirit save me by Thy grace

Savior, Savior hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling do not pass me by

Thou the Spring of all my comfort more than life to me
Whom have I on earth beside Thee Whom in heaven but Thee

Savior, Savior hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling do not pass me by

    Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon                     2 Corinthians 5:17-19

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”

*Hymn                                           “All I Have Is Christ”                                                    CCLI # 11156644

I once was lost in darkest night yet thought I knew the way
The sin that promised joy and life had led me to the grave
I had no hope that You would own a rebel to Your will
And if You had not loved me first…I would refuse You still

But as I ran my hell-bound race indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state and led me to the cross
And I beheld God's love displayed You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me now all I know is grace

Hallelujah all I have is Christ
    Hallelujah Jesus is my life

Now Lord I would be Yours alone and live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands could never come from me
O Father use my ransomed life in any way You choose
And let my song forever be my only boast is You

Hallelujah all I have is Christ
    Hallelujah Jesus is my life

Hallelujah all I have is Christ
    Hallelujah Jesus is my life

Scripture Reading and Prayer            Acts 17:16-21

Prayer of Thanksgiving and for Offerings

*Hymn                                    “I Will Sing of My Redeemer”                                          Hymnal #650

I will sing of my Redeemer and His wondrous love to me
On the cruel cross He suffered from the curse to set me free

Sing O sing of my Redeemer with His blood He purchased me
On the cross He sealed my pardon paid the debt and made me free

I will tell the wondrous story how my lost estate to save
In His boundless love and mercy He the ransom freely gave

Sing O sing of my Redeemer with His blood He purchased me
On the cross He sealed my pardon paid the debt and made me free

I will praise my dear Redeemer His triumphant power I'll tell
How the victory He giveth over sin and death and hell

Sing O sing of my Redeemer with His blood He purchased me
On the cross He sealed my pardon paid the debt and made me free

I will sing of my Redeemer and His heav'nly love for me
He from death to life has brought me – Son of God with Him to be

Sing O sing of my Redeemer with His blood He purchased me
On the cross He sealed my pardon paid the debt and made me free

*Opening Prayer and Confession of Faith                                               Joshua 24:14-18

Now fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served…and serve the Lord. And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served or the gods of those in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

“Far be it from us that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods, for it is the Lord our God who brought us from the house of slavery, and who preserved us in all the way that we went…Therefore we also will serve the Lord, for he is our God!”

“Do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.”

    1 Samuel 12:20

Scripture Song             “Come Let Us Worship and Bow Down”                          Psalm 95:6                                                                                                            CCLI # 11156644

Come, let us worship and bow down,

Let us kneel before the Lord, our God, our maker.  (Repeat)

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand, just the sheep of His hand.

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought,  but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

    Romans 8:26

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let  your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,  will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

    Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer for the Body of Christ

    Responsive Reading                                 Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

    You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
    you anoint my head with oil;
        my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

*Hymn                                              “Abide with Me”                                             CCLI # 11156644

    Arr. by Justin Smith

Abide with me fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless abide with me

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me though I oft left Thee
On to the close Lord abide with me

I need Thy presence every passing hour
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be
Through cloud and sunshine abide with me

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death where grave thy victory
I triumph still abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
    Heav'n’s morning breaks
    And earth’s vain shadows flee
In life in death Lord abide with me

Scripture Reading and Prayer             Genesis 9:29

Sermon                                     “Noah: And He Also Died”                    Mr. J. Kim, Intern

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Prayer for Offerings

*Hymn                                         “Peace, Perfect Peace”                                    Hymnal #702

Peace perfect peace in this dark world of sin?
The blood of Jesus whispers peace within

Peace perfect peace by thronging duties pressed?
To do the will of Jesus this is rest

Peace perfect peace with sorrows surging round?
On Jesus' bosom naught but calm is found

Peace perfect peace with loved ones far away?
In Jesus keeping we are safe and they

Peace perfect peace our future all unknown?
Jesus we know and He is on the throne

Peace perfect peace death shadowing us and ours?
Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers

It is enough earth's struggles soon shall cease
And Jesus call us to heav'n's perfect peace

    Responsive Reading                                 Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

    You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
    you anoint my head with oil;
        my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

*Hymn                                              “Abide with Me”                                             CCLI # 11156644

    Arr. by Justin Smith

Abide with me fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless abide with me

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me though I oft left Thee
On to the close Lord abide with me

I need Thy presence every passing hour
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be
Through cloud and sunshine abide with me

I fear no foe with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death where grave thy victory
I triumph still abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
    Heav'n’s morning breaks
    And earth’s vain shadows flee
In life in death Lord abide with me
