At Christ the King OPC we believe that children are part of the visible church, and as such need to be with their families as we worship. We encourage families to worship together so that children may watch their parents singing and praying and listening to God’s Word. (For those with infants or squirmy toddlers, we do have a nursery just off the worship area which parents may use to quiet their children, change a diaper, or rock a baby to sleep. Our church is very accustomed to children making noises and parents standing to hold their children in the back of the room if necessary.)
Every Sunday morning and evening, the children of the church gather 20 minutes before the worship services to hear what the morning or evening message will be about, and to prepare to listen to God’s Word. Following the service the children meet for refreshments to talk about what they heard in the message. You would be surprised how well the children are listening! Even elementary-age kids are taking notes!
We also have special outings and event for the children of the church throughout the year. This summer the youth of the church are invited to a summer camp hosted by our regional church (the Presbytery of the South) near Tampa, FL.
